In an impressive feat underscoring its robust connectivity, Shanxi Province in North China has successfully managed and facilitated more than 700 China-Europe freight train voyages since the service’s inauguration in 2017, as revealed by local authorities.
The remarkable 700th freight train venture, laden with an assortment of commodities such as ceramic tableware, automotive tires, pipe fittings, and glass merchandise, embarked from the Zhongding logistics park located within Shanxi on August 5. The endeavor, overseen by China Railway Taiyuan Group Co., Ltd., was launched with 77 containers, collectively accommodating a cargo capacity of approximately 1,814 tonnes. The journey’s trajectory will encompass the Horgos port situated in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the northwest of China, and it is projected to conclude in approximately 10 days upon reaching various destination countries, including Kazakhstan.
Shanxi Province has demonstrated considerable dynamism since 2017 by initiating a network of 10 China-Europe freight train routes that establish crucial connections across 13 nations along the Belt and Road initiative.
With a continued commitment to amplify its elevated level of global engagement, Shanxi has consistently expanded the ambit of goods transported via the China-Europe freight train corridors. What initially commenced with commodities like wheels, stainless steel, and solar photovoltaic modules has flourished into a diverse spectrum encompassing medicines, flanges, ceramics, glassware, walnuts, and an array of distinctive local specialties.
The enduring success of these freight train journeys stands as a testament to Shanxi Province’s dedication to fostering enhanced trade links and facilitating the seamless flow of goods, thereby contributing to the vitality of regional and international commerce.
