Erenhot Port, the largest land port situated on the China-Mongolia border, has achieved a significant milestone by handling a total import and export cargo throughput of over 12 million tonnes since 2013.
As reported by the customs authorities in Hohhot, the capital city of China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the port has facilitated more than 13,000 journeys made by China-Europe freight trains during this period. These trains have collectively transported 1.35 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) of cargo, with a combined commodity value approaching nearly 30 billion U.S. dollars.
Erenhot Port serves as a pivotal gateway, connecting China to more than 60 regions spanning across over 10 countries, including prominent destinations such as Germany and Poland, via 69 well-established China-Europe freight train routes.
Among the diverse array of goods transported through Erenhot Port aboard China-Europe freight trains, one can find footwear and apparel, mechanical and electrical products, vehicles, and automotive components, encompassing a staggering selection of approximately 1,000 different commodity categories. This robust trade network exemplifies the port’s vital role in facilitating international commerce and fostering global connectivity.
