Tangshan Co., Ltd., a leading Chinese high-speed train manufacturer, has successfully produced the first-ever new-energy light rail train for Argentina, marking China’s first export project of this kind. The completion ceremony took place in Tangshan, Hebei Province. The six-axle articulated train has a maximum speed of 60 km per hour and a flexible passenger capacity ranging from 72 to 388. It features cabs at both ends, enabling two-way driving. The train’s exterior design draws inspiration from Argentina’s World Heritage site, Quebrada de Humahuaca, while its viewing windows provide convenience for sightseeing tourists. Powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries, the train will serve the transportation system of Jujuy Province in Argentina. Zhou Junnian, chairman of CRRC Tangshan, expressed hope that China’s new-energy light rail trains would enhance tourism development in Jujuy Province, fostering a model of mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Latin American nations.
