The organizers have officially announced that the 2023 Euro-Asia Economic Forum is slated to take place in Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi Province in northwest China, from September 22 to 24.
Under the overarching theme of fostering fresh cooperation opportunities and advancing mutual development, this year’s forum is poised to extend invitations to a diverse array of dignitaries. Attendees will include government officials from countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, representatives from esteemed international organizations, foreign ambassadors stationed in China, leaders of multinational corporations, and prominent scholars. This announcement was made during a press conference held in Beijing on Friday.
Xi’an’s Mayor, Ye Niuping, emphasized the forum’s pivotal role in further expanding the scope of exchanges and partnerships between China and the Eurasian nations across a wide spectrum of fields. This event is envisioned as a versatile platform for diplomatic engagement, policy harmonization, investment promotion, and the facilitation of collaborative ventures.
In addition to the main forum, this year’s edition will feature an array of 13 parallel sessions. These sessions will delve into critical subjects such as policy synchronization, financial collaboration, economic and trade interactions, technological innovation, environmental preservation, as well as the promotion of cultural and tourism development. This multifaceted approach is aimed at ensuring a comprehensive exploration of key issues.
Moreover, as part of the three-day forum, a commodities expo will be hosted, providing a unique opportunity for showcasing and exploring economic products and services.
The Euro-Asia Economic Forum, an essential economic cooperation mechanism operating within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, has been a recurring event, taking place every two years since its inauguration in 2005.
