The 2023 China Marine Economy Expo commenced in Shenzhen Municipality, southern China, with a focus on highlighting China’s marine industry achievements, cutting-edge technologies, and international collaborations. Themed “Open Cooperation and Win-win Sharing,” the three-day event has attracted the physical presence of 658 enterprises, institutions, and organizations from the marine sector across 16 countries and regions, reflecting a notable year-on-year increase of over 60 percent in participation.
Spanning an impressive 112,500 square meters, this year’s expo serves as a platform for showcasing innovative applications, new technologies, and products in sectors like ocean engineering and marine electronic information.
Additionally, the expo will host more than 20 specialized forums, featuring offline discussions among over 200 global dignitaries from the realms of politics, academia, and business. These discussions will encompass topics such as marine science and technology, the marine industry, ports and shipping, marine civilization, ocean governance, and more.
Signe Brudeset, Norwegian Ambassador to China and Mongolia, graced the expo’s opening ceremony and emphasized China’s significance as one of Norway’s major trading partners in Asia. She noted that the expo offers a valuable platform for Norwegian companies to engage with their Chinese counterparts, fostering exchanges and cooperation to further boost bilateral trade between Norway and China.
